Our Scientific Advisory Board has been established to overview and support the design, development and clinical applications of cannabis pharmaceuticals. The board holds extensive expertise in the medical, pharmaceutical, biotech and scientific research fields – with a focus on medicinal cannabis clinical research.

Dr. Adele Hosseini


Dr. Adele Hosseini is the chief scientific officer at Bod and leads the Scientific Advisory Board. Dr Hosseini completed her PhD in Pharmacy [Pharmacokinetics] at the University of Sydney. She has over 18 years of experience in the biomedical industry, having worked in the research, design and development of both pharmaceuticals and medical devices, with specialty in clinical research. She is also involved in academia, regularly delivering lectures at various universities.

Dr Hosseini is a pioneer in the Australian medicinal cannabis industry – leading Bod’s Scientific Advisory Board and research program. Over the last four years she has developed a deep understanding of medicinal cannabis and continues the strategic design and development of the clinical research on medicinal cannabis for numerous therapeutic indications.

Professor Ian Olver


Professor Olver originally trained as a medical oncologist and bioethicist. He is currently a professorial research fellow in the School of Psychology, Faculty of Health and Medical Science at the University of Adelaide, with research focusing on supportive care in cancer and psycho-oncology. Professor Olver was previously CEO of Cancer Council Australia and Clinical Director of the Royal Adelaide Hospital Cancer Centre. He is immediate past president of the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer and served on the Australian Health Ethics Committee of the NHMRC for 9 years chairing it for the 6 years. To date he has published 315 journal papers, 28 book chapters, and authored 4 books and edited 5 including the MASSCC Textbook of Supportive Care and Survivorship.

Professor Andrew McLachlan


Professor Andrew McLachlan is a leading Australian pharmacist, academic and researcher with experience in clinical pharmacology and the quality use of medicines. He is Head of School and Dean at the Sydney Pharmacy School, The University of Sydney. Professor McLachlan is the former chair of a human research ethics committee and serves on Australian government committees related to medicines policy, evaluation, regulation and antidoping.

Professor Stella Valezuela


Professor Stella Valenzuela is Director of the ARC Industrial Transformation Research Hub for Integrated Devices for End-user Analysis at low-Levels (ARC Research Hub – IDEAL) and is Associate Head (Research) in the School of Life Sciences at the University of Technology Sydney. Her background training is in the fields of molecular and cell biology and undertakes Bionanotechnology research, with a focus on ion channel proteins, lipid membrane interactions, and the therapeutic application of gold nanoparticles.
